Beauty in Threes

The 'rule of threes' which is commonly used in design also translate to floral arranging. This guideline says that things arranged in odd numbers are often more appealing, memorable, and effective then even-numbered groupings.

In arrangements, the height of the container should constitute 1/3 of the total height, and the height of your floral materials should constitute 2/3 of the total height.

Design Choice

Picking your design style is very helpful because it gives you a goal. You can have a small round design or a large round design. The design style is like a blueprint. You get to pick the size of the design or scale based on your container, flowers and your skill level. If you want to try different styles, try the smaller version first and then try the larger versions.

How to prevent flowers from molding in a vase?

The most important thing to do to keep mold from growing in a vase with flowers is to regularly change the water and trim the stems with each change of water. Every day or two is best. Also, add a floral preservative to your arrangement when you first put it in the vase.

Once you learn these basic steps, flower arranging can be fun and simple! You'll be making eye-catching arrangements in no-time!
